At Wake Skincare HQ, we love discovering new morning routines that help us to achieve peak productivity throughout the day. So in this blog we thought we would compile some of the morning rituals from some of the most influential people from around the world.
Drink water
Seriously. Before you do anything else. As soon as you wake up drink a cold glass of water.
We mentioned the various benefits of water in a previous blog. The main point to take away is that water keeps your skin hydrated and therefore looking young and vibrant. Furthermore, cold water helps boost your metabolism. Water removes toxins in your skin that can lead to dryness and spots. Do the right thing first thing in the morning!
Meditate
Find your inner peace. Oprah Winfrey says that her 20 minutes’ meditation fills her with “hope, a sense of contentment and deep joy.”
As well as clearing your mind, meditation is a good opportunity to be grateful for all the good things in your life as well as reflecting on those things you wish to change. There have even been studies to suggest that meditation prevents the natural decrease in brain volume that comes with age.
We know that meditation can be hard, but it is becoming a lot easier. We love the app Headspace; you can go at your own pace and it makes meditation a lot easier than trying to go alone.
Exercise
We are not expecting a pre-7am marathon.
However, light exercise is a great way to clear your head and loosen your limbs. Whether it is walking, yoga or press ups, you should always try some kind of exercise that involves stretching.
Morning exercise will help prevent stiffness in the morning and keep your body supple. Regular exercise tones your muscles and studies have shown that people who exercise frequently look younger than those who don’t.
Wake Skincare Eye Gel
You may not have had the best night’s sleep last night but don’t let that stop you from looking your best.
Our Eye Gel is your trusted partner to combat those signs of fatigue in the morning. Tired eyes often emphasis the signs of ageing and keeping the skin around your eyes smooth is key to looking vibrant.
We recommend applying the gel first thing in the morning and allowing it to sink into the skin.
Read/write/podcast (or all three)
Co-founder of Onboardly, Renée Warren recommends both writing and listening shortly after waking up. Renée makes notes whilst listening to a podcast. This is a good way to ensure that you are learning something new every day.
This is a good way to stimulate your brain and prevent you from procrastinating and feeling lethargic when you come to starting work. Continuous learning is key to keeping the mind feeling young.
Your challenge
We really recommend that you give this routine a go for at least a week, in whatever order you like. Let us know how you get on in the comments section below.
